Consider and discuss a report from Mr. Danny Feller, President of Kerr Area Rural
Firefighters Association, seeking assistance from the Court to bring about needed
improvements in the process for reporting controlled burns and in dispatching methods
and procedures.

County Judge & Commissioners:
KARFA president Danny Feller has asked to be on the agenda to discuss two public
safety issues of importance to the VFDs and to the citizens of Kerr County.
1. The Sheriff s Office may not be the right place to direct citizens to call to report a
controlled burn. Calling 911 may produce better results.
2. KARFA is concerned that the current organization and methods for dispatching
are not properly functioning and this is resulting in miscommunications, delayed
pages or tone-outs, and a loss of critical time in responding to an emergency.
They see an urgent need to make changes in order to prevent needless loss of lie
or property.
These issues involve The City ofKerrville, the Kerr Emergency 911 Board, Kerr County
and the Sheriff s Office and the Volunteer Fire Departments. Mr. Feller understands that
the Commissioners"" Court cannot resolve the issues acting alone, but will ask that we
provide the needed leadership to get the issues addressed by all of the involved parties.
