Came to be heard this the 22"d day of March 2004 with a motion made by Commissioner
Williams, Seconded by Commissioner Nicholson, the Court unanimously approved by a
vote of 3-0-0 to authorize Kerr County Environmental Health Department to file a Solid
Waste Grant Application with AACOG.

AACOG, its cooperation with the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission,
issues the FY 2005 Solid Waste Grant Applications. Total amount of funds available
are 589 665.
Eligible Categories for Proiects:
Category 1: Source Reduction and Recycling
Category 2: Local Enforcement
Category 3: titter and Illegal Dumping Clean-Up;
Gategory 4: Citizens' Collection Stations and "Small" Registered Transfer Stations,
and Community Collection Events
Category 5: Household Hazardous Waste
Category 6: Education and Training Projects
Category 7: Technical Studies (limited to feasibility studies).
Category 8: Other Types of Projects
Eligible Recipients:
The following public entities are eligible for grant funding under this program:
• Counties and Cities
Public schools and school districts (excluding universities and other post-secondary
educational institutions
• General and special law districts created as political subdivisions of the state, with
the authority and responsibility far water quality protection or municipal solid waste
management, to include river authorities
• Councils of. Governments

Private and non-profit companies and organizations are not eligible to receive grant
funding. However, recipients of a grant may contract with private and non-profit entities
to provide specific grant-funded services.
A pre-application workshop will be held on March 23, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the AACOG
Offices located at 8700 Tesoro Drive, Conference Room 100, San Antonio, Texas
78217-6208. Attendance for eligible entities considering submitting an application is
highly recommended. Attendees should bring application ideas and financial estimates
to the meeting. Technical Assistance will be available from AACOG staff. Please
contact Dr. Georgia Zannaras, Resource Recovery Manager, at (210) 362-5287.
Note: All applications are due on April 16, 2004 at 10:00
a.m. at the AACOG Offices, Suite 700. Late
applications will be discarded. No faxed
applications will be received.
