Notzon III Executive Director Enc (2) 8700 Tesoro, Suke 700 ~ San Antonio, Texas ~ 78217 ~ (210) 362-5200 ~ Fax: (210) 225-5937 ~ Web site: www.aacog.com ~ E-mail: mail@aacog.com RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING KERR COUNTY TO ADOPT A HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN FOR THE AACOG REGION WHEREAS Certain areas of Kerr County are subject to periodic flooding and other natural hazards with the potential to cause damages to people properties within the area; and WHEREAS Kerr County desires to prepare and mitigate for such circumstances; and WHEREAS Under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that local jurisdictions have in place a FEMA-approved Hazard Mitigation Action Plan as a condition of receipt of certain future Federal mitigation funding after November 1, 2004; and WHEREAS To assist cities and counties in meeting this requirement, the Alamo Area Council of Governments, has initiated development of a regional, multi- jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Action Plan covering Ken County; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That this Kerr County Commissioners' Court hereby: Adopts those portions of the Plan that pertain to Kerr County and Vests the County Judge, with the responsibility, authority, and the means to (a) Inform all concerned parties of this action. (b) Develop an addendum to this Hazard Mitigation Plan if the town's unique situation warrants such an addendum. Appoints the County Judge, to assure that the Hazard Mitigation Plan be reviewed at least annually and that any needed adjustment to the Kerr County addendum to the Hazard Mitigation Plan be developed and presented to the Kerr County Commissioners' Court for consideration. Agrees to take such other official action as may be reasonably necessary to carry out the objectives of the Hazard Mitigation Plan.
