HENNEKE, Kerr County Judge 23 H. A. "BUSTER" BALDWIN, Commissioner Pct. 1 WILLIAM "BILL" WILLIAMS, Commissioner Pct. 2 24 ABSENT: JONATHAN LETZ, Commissioner Pct. 3 25 LARRY GRIFFIN, Commissioner Pct. 4 2 1 On Friday, November 9, 2001, at 9:00 a. m., a special 2 meeting of the Kerr County Commissioners Court was held in 3 the Commissioners' Courtroom, Kerr County Courthouse, 4 Kerrville, Texas, and the following proceedings were had in 5 open court: 6 P R O C E E D I N G S 7 JUDGE HENNEKE: Good morning, everyone. It's 8 9 o'clock in the morning on Friday, November the 9th. I'm 9 glad to see we have about as many people in the audience as 10 voted in the constitutional amendment election. The only 11 business to come before the Court today is to canvass the 12 votes from the 2001 constitutional amendment election for 13 Kerr County. You each have a printout of the votes that 14 were cast for each amendment. Does anyone have any 15 questions or comments regarding the votes? If not, I would 16 entertain a motion to approve the votes as canvassed and 17 presented. 18 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: So moved. 19 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: I'll second that 20 motion. 21 JUDGE HENNEKE: Motion by Commissioner 22 Williams, second by Commissioner Baldwin, that the Court 23 approve the canvass of the votes cast in the 2001 24 constitutional amendment election as presented by the Kerr 25 County Clerk's office. Any further questions or comments? 3 1 If not, all in favor, raise your right hand. 2 (The motion carried by unanimous vote.) 3 JUDGE HENNEKE: All opposed, same sign. 4 (No response.) 5 JUDGE HENNEKE: Motion carries. Let the 6 record reflect that a quorum of the Court was present. If 7 there's no further business to come before us, we stand 8 adjourned. 9 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: I was going to make a 10 comment, but I can make it next Tuesday just as easily. It 11 has to do with election and election notification. I had a 12 call from a lady who lives in the southeast quadrant of the 13 county who was pretty upset over the fact that she had 14 driven 80 miles round-trip to vote, and was unable to do so 15 'cause she couldn't find the polling place. And I asked her 16 if she took the local paper, because I know it was in the 17 paper, and she says no, she doesn't take the local paper. 18 Anyhow, the bottom line is she made a good suggestion, which 19 I will pass on in the hope that it gets in the proper 20 quarters, in that in the future, when we consolidate the 21 voting precincts as we did this time, and assuming that our 22 web site is up and running, it would be good to include that 23 as information on the web site for people who may live out 24 in the hinterlands and have limited communication. 25 JUDGE HENNEKE: I think that's an excellent 4 1 suggestion. Hopefully by the time we have another election, 2 we'll have our web site up. Okay, gentlemen, you need to 3 sign. 4 (Discussion off the record.) 5 (Commissioners Court adjourned at 9:05 a.m.) 6 - - - - - - - - - - 7 8 9 10 11 STATE OF TEXAS | 12 COUNTY OF KERR | 13 The above and foregoing is a true and complete 14 transcription of my stenotype notes taken in my capacity as 15 County Clerk of the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, 16 Texas, at the time and place heretofore set forth. 17 DATED at Kerrville, Texas, this 9th day of November, 18 2001. 19 20 21 JANNETT PIEPER, Kerr County Clerk 22 BY: _________________________________ Kathy Banik, Deputy County Clerk 23 Certified Shorthand Reporter 24 25
